The Mountain Shop and Mount Hood Meadows are Co-hosting the 2nd Annual Rams Head Randonee Race on May 3, 2014!
The Rams Head Randonee is an uphill – downhill course laid out on the Mt. Hood Meadows Stadium complex, with a loop that wraps around Rams Head. This year’s course will include a short boot pack section within the various uphill sections, which totals just over 1900 feet of vertical.
If you’ve been interested in skinning uphill, this will be a great opportunity to get involved and start learning. If you’re an experienced racer, this is your chance to shine! Not to mention that this race acts as a Fundraiser for the Northwest Avalanche Center. The whole course will take less than an hour, which will give race participants and spectators plenty of time to try out the new demo gear offered in Vendor Village. Randonee and Nordic demos, organized by the Mountain Shop, will be available in the demo village at the start.
There are four racer categories – Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Masters (50 and Older) and Women’s Masters (50 and Older), so there’s something for everyone!
Race day registration is 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM in the Snow Blaster Room. The race will start promptly at 10:00 AM.
The fun doesn’t stop there! Join us at 1:00 pm for a BBQ and live band! Plus, there will be a fund raising raffle for The NW Weather and Avalanche Center. Raffle prizes will be provided by various vendors and event sponsors like CAMP, La Sportiva, Scarpa and Dynafit. Food and beer will be provided by Mt. Hood Meadows and Everybody’s Brewing.
