Oregon Nordic Club’s Annual Ski and Winter Sports Fair (Dec. 4th)Join us in supporting the Oregon Nordic Club during their annual Ski and Winter Sports Fair. The Mountain Shop has donated over $2,000 worth of awesome equipment and apparel to help the cause! Find cross-country, backcountry, telemark, and snowshoeing equipment at great prices. A raffle fundraiser will be held to support ONC’s trail maintenance program (the ONC Portland chapter maintains the winter trail in the Mt. Hood and Gifford Pinchot National Forests). If you want to try out a new snow sport, sign up at the Fair for lessons in: beginning to advanced cross-country, Nordic downhill and Telemark. Visit the ONC’s Events webpage for all details.
Mt. Hood Meadows Nordic Extravaganza (Dec. 14th)Come on out to Mt. Hood Meadows on Saturday, December 14th for a day full of Nordic festivities! Registration opens at 8:30 AM, and the event kicks off at 9:30 AM with a Sam Cordell Skate Clinic for only $25! The best high school teams in the Northwest will be competing in a race that begins at 11 AM. Demo skies will be available, compliments of Rossignol, Fischer and Madshus. When speed is involved, proper waxing can make all the difference. Learn the tricks of the trade from Call “The Wax Meister” Andersen. There will also be a barbecue, and the White Rino marimba band will be performing live. Check out the Meadows website for all details!
Demo Day at Mt. Hood Meadows (Dec. 15th)The Meadows Winter Demo Day goes from 9 AM – 2 PM, and will continue until 3 PM if there’s still equipment available. Registration begins at 8:30 AM, and there are no boot demos. Check out the Meadows website for all details.One vendor we would like to highlight is DPS skis, who will be demoing their new 2013/2014 line at this event! The Mountain Shop is proud to carry the following DPS skis:

A.T. and Tele Tuesdays (Starting on January 7th 2014)Tele Tuesdays will get rolling again beginning in January 2014, this time with the addition of AT into the mix!Come make some turns with the Mountain Shop on January 7th at Ski Bowl for an evening of AT and Tele skiing. For a donation of $10 dollars, demo some of the newest AT and Tele equipment on the market. We’ll host an exciting uphill downhill race as a conclusion to the evening, with both kid-friendly and adult victory beverages served following the race. And as always, Splitboards are welcome!

On top of getting the newest gear, each demo and rental is performance tuned to our local conditions each time it is returned to our shop. Come join us for Wednesday Workshops at the Mountain Shop! Each free workshop provides our community with informative outdoor clinics lead by our expert Mountain Shop employees.
Nordic Wax + Ski Maintenance (December 11, 5:30 pm)
Learn the basics of do-it-yourself ski maintenance and how to improve the performance of your old and new nordic skis with 10 time American Berkebiener finisher Guy Trombley, the new General Manager of the Mountain Shop. This class will cover all non-metal edge skis from recreational to racing. Guy will go over proper flex skills to test your skis for appropriate camber and desired performance. He will also discuss correct structuring and waxing of your ski base for our local conditions as well as your travel aspirations.  Plus, enjoy 10% off all waxes following the clinic!
Alpine Wax + Ski Maintenance (December 4, 6 pm)

Fischer Custom Vacuum Fit - The Mountain Shop is proud to be the only shop in Portland to house a Fischer Vacuum Fit Station! The Fischer Vacuum Fit Station is used with Fischer’s new line of Vacuum Fit ski boots to adapt the shell of the ski boot completely to the anatomy of any foot. A special VACU-PLAST polymer material and a specific heating process achieves a superior custom fit, the same fit process used by top athletes in the Alpine Ski World Cup. The VACU-PLAST polymer was developed exclusively for the ski boot sector and stands out through superior material properties: thermoformable at 80°C, high temperature stability, lower weight and better vibration dampening.
Kid’s Season Leasing Program Ends December 15!
The last day to sign up for the Kid’s Season Leasing Program is December 15th! This program is a great way to get your little ones on the mountain without shelling out the cash for a brand new set up every year as they grow.  Lease a pair of boots and skis for $180 for the season.  At the end of the season, either return the equipment or purchase the entire package for another $120.
Join the Tune Club!
Starting December 1st, we are launching the Mountain Shop Tune Club! Purchase a Tune Club Membership card for $250, and have your gear Performance Tuned 5 times!  That’s a savings of $15 per Performance Tune! Our Mountain Shop Performance Tune includes:1. Base inspection for minor p-tex repair and flattening for convex/concave base irregularities.
2. Machine stone ground structuring for local conditions
3. Metal edge skis/snowboards are sharpened to a 1-degree bevel on the base, 1-degree on the edge, with tips and tails detuned to the contact point.
4. Finish cleaning, roto-brushing and buffing with Fibertex,
5. An all conditions hydrocarbon hand iron wax, and then are cooled, scraped, and brushed.
*Additional charges may incur for removal of pre-existing wax, klister, or skin glue.The Tune Club card applies to the Member’s equipment only.  We are also offering a Family Tune Club card, in which you can have up to 5 tunes for the entire family for $250!
