The last two weekends Mt Hood Meadows groomed a circuit around their base area (elevation 5,450 ft) allowing for skate and classic skiing on Mount Hood in June. Not only did the Meadows Nordic Center staff groom out a 3.5k track, they put on junior and masters clinics. Madshus was on hand to let the public try out their latest high performance and race skis. Mountain Shop staff were on hand to help out with the demo and managed to sneak in a bit of skiing. The skiing got going at 6 am and went until 2 pm. The early birds got the best conditions for skating.
Classic skiing on the new Madshus zero skis kept people going as the snow got sloppy later in the morning. For all of you that missed out this year, put it on your calendar for next year. For those of you who want to extend the season even a little more come by the Mountain Shop and check out our line up of Swenor Roller skis. We have classic and skate models available to buy. For those of you interested in upgrading your old roller skis or just want to try it out we do have a demo program. If you need more help geting started come by the shop to sign up for upcoming roller ski clinics.
Thanks to those of you who came out. For those who didn’t: we’ll see you next year!
