The Madshus Annum (previously the Karhu Guide) maintains its reign as the lightweight backcountry king. Though more narrow than other AT or Telemark skis, this classic continue to WOW us with its performance in spring skiing. The Madshus Annum is a waxless (has a scale pattern) base ski, which means it climbs low to moderate angled slopes with ease. The Omnitrak Base Pattern is the best on the market, with sure footing on all by the steeper and icier tracks. We recommend the Madshus Annum for spring time because it excels on corn or boiler plate snow. If you're looking to hit some powder stashes, this might not be your ski of choice, but it should be in every backcountry skier?s quiver.
