Review:
Looking for a lightweight, reliable, 4 season tent that can handle just about any inclement weather the PNW may throw your way? Then look no further than the Hilleberg Nallo 2! I purchased this tent about 5 years ago and it’s first trip was a ski circumnavigation around Crater Lake. Even though I forgot my stove and my adventure buddy and I had to eat cold, raw homemade Tamales, this tent kept us warm and dry while doing so! (Lucky for me I also had homemade chocolate chip cookies and beer to share, so all was forgiven!)
My most memorable trip with the Nallo 2 was last Fall when a crew of friends and I bushwhacked 6 miles into the wilderness to watch the Ring of Fire Eclipse where the threat of snow was inevitable. The wind howled all night and we woke up to about 6 inches of fresh snow, but the tent kept two humans and 2 dogs warm and dry!
The Nallo 2 is easy to set up, durable and handles the elements like a champ! It’s great to know that when I wish to embark on an overnight adventure that has any chance of delivering precipitation, packing this tent is one item on my checklist that doesn’t require any thought! I chose this tent because it’s over a half pound lighter than the comparable Nammatj 2, and had adequate space to meet the needs of myself and my two dogs. It is, however, roomy enough for 2 dogs and 2 humans, and the extra companions keep it extra warm inside! The Nammatj 2 might be a better option if one is seeking a roomier, but still very lightweight and weather protecting tent.
Who it’s for:
Anyone who is seeking a lightweight, durable, 4 season tent that can withstand PNW elements.
